Weekly AI Update: Human-AI Teams at Work

This week was an exciting time for artificial intelligence and human workers coming together. Companies, universities, and hospitals around the world all shared stories about how AI is helping people do their jobs better. The special kind of AI that is getting the most attention is called agentic AI. This means AI that can think on its own, make decisions, and do tasks without people telling it exactly what to do every single time.

Supply Chains and Business Success

The biggest event this week was the OMP Miami Conference, which happened on November 18 and 19. Many important business leaders from around the world met in Miami, United States to talk about supply chains. A supply chain is like a path that a product takes from the factory to the store where you buy it. Leaders from big companies like Johnson & Johnson, Land O'Lakes, Kraft Heinz, and others showed how they are using agentic AI to make supply chains better and faster. One special technology they talked about is called UnisonIQ, which is a tool that helps AI and humans work together to make smart decisions about how to move products around the world. The leaders said that by working together with AI, they can get things done faster, make fewer mistakes, and handle problems better.

AI Helping Doctors and Patients

Healthcare is another big area where AI is making a big difference. Microsoft held a big technology conference called Microsoft Ignite in November, and they showed off new AI tools for hospitals. One exciting new tool is called the Healthcare Agent Orchestrator. Imagine if a robot could read medical records, look for important information, and tell doctors about it really fast. That is kind of what this AI does. It works with special helper-AIs to do complicated medical work in minutes instead of hours. A company called Atropos Health created something called the AI Evidence Agent that helps doctors right while they are talking to patients. This AI reads medical research and real-world information to give doctors the best ideas for helping their patients. Because the AI does this thinking work, doctors can focus on actually talking to and helping sick people.

Learning and Working in the AI Future

Universities are preparing students for a world where AI is everywhere. Tennessee Tech University, located in Tennessee, United States, made a big announcement on November 21. The school said they will create a brand new college degree called Bachelor of Science in Artificial Intelligence that will start in fall 2026. This makes Tennessee Tech the first university in the whole state of Tennessee to offer a complete four-year college degree focused on AI. The courses will teach students not just how to use AI, but how to build it, code it, and understand how it works on the inside. The university also has a special place called the MInDS Center where teachers and students work together on AI projects.

New AI Powers and Tools

The biggest AI companies in the world are making their AI smarter and more powerful. Anthropic's Claude and Google's Gemini models got new abilities this month. These new powers let AI think through hard problems step by step, kind of like how a person would solve a puzzle. A huge company called Cognizant said they are giving almost 350,000 of their workers around the world access to these powerful AI tools. This means hundreds of thousands of people can now ask AI to help them with their work. Google announced that Gemini 3 is coming. People in the technology world are excited and guessing what new powers Gemini 3 will have.

What Makes AI Agents Different

Scientists from MIT and Boston did research to understand AI agents better. They surveyed more than 2,000 business leaders around the world. They found something important: AI agents are not like regular chatbots. A regular chatbot is like a helper that answers your questions and then waits for you to ask something else. But AI agents are more like teammates. They can plan what to do, do the work, and then learn from what happened so they do better next time. The report showed that about 62 percent of companies are already trying out AI agents, and about 23 percent are making their AI agent projects bigger and better.

AI and the Future of Work

Aga Khan University in Pakistan held a special conference called AI in Action on November 19. People who work in the HR department (human resources - the people who help workers) and the IT department (information technology - the computer people) met together to talk about AI. The leader of HR said that everyone is worried about what AI will do to their jobs, but the real question is: what new skills do workers need to learn to work well with AI? A big bank leader named Faisal Anwar talked about how banks are changing because of AI. He said that in the future, banks will be simpler and faster because AI will do the boring computer work.

Looking Forward

This week showed that AI working together with humans is not something from the future - it is happening right now in companies and hospitals all around the world. Companies are discovering that when they let AI agents do the smart, fast, boring work, people can focus on doing things that only humans can do, like helping others and making big decisions. Students are learning that AI jobs will be available for them when they graduate. The future of work is about human-AI teams working together, and this week proved it is already starting.
