Education & Learning Weekly AI News

Agentic AI is changing the way schools and teachers work. This new type of artificial intelligence can think, make decisions, and work on tasks all by itself, without someone telling it exactly what to do each time. Unlike regular AI that just answers questions when asked, agentic AI is proactive and independent, meaning it can plan ahead and figure out what to do next.

Schools are starting to use agentic AI in exciting new ways. Autonomous tutoring agents can help students learn by checking if they understand the material, adjusting the difficulty if it's too hard or easy, and even scheduling help sessions automatically. Teachers can use agentic AI to design lesson plans that work for each student's needs. School offices can use it to handle scheduling, facility reports, and even parent communication.

Recently, many organizations have announced they are using agentic AI. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced it is giving agentic AI tools to all its workers to help them review medical products more efficiently and safely. Microsoft is helping companies create teams of multiple AI agents that work together, similar to having smart team members working on different parts of a job at the same time. Cisco released information about how agentic AI will be the future of higher education, helping colleges and universities work better.

Professors at universities are embracing AI in their teaching. At the University of Delaware in the United States, Professor Matt Kinservik teaches students how to work with AI tools, preparing them for jobs where they'll need to check AI's work. Professor Jennifer Chen at Kean University in New Jersey, also in the United States, uses AI to study how young children learn and to help teachers create lessons for students who speak different languages.

The agentic AI market is growing very fast, expected to reach 199 billion dollars by 2034, growing from 7.55 billion dollars in 2025. This shows how important this technology is becoming for schools and businesses around the world. However, schools also need to think carefully about privacy, fairness, and making sure AI makes good decisions for all students.
