Workforce Impact (from business side) Weekly AI News
October 20 - October 28, 2025AI agents are not ready for most jobs yet, according to experts this week. Andrej Karpathy, a leader at OpenAI, said these AI workers still have major problems and won't be good enough for real work for about ten years. Many companies are actually giving up on plans to replace human workers with AI. For example, half of all companies that wanted to cut their customer service teams by 2027 have changed their minds. However, some companies like LimeChat in India are still planning to cut jobs and use AI to handle customer work. Meanwhile, young college graduates are having a very hard time finding jobs. The unemployment rate for new graduates was 4.8% in June 2025, which is higher than for all workers in the United States. About one in four young adults can't find jobs in the fields they studied for. Companies are competing to hire the best workers while also trying to use more AI, which is making it harder for new graduates to get their first jobs.
