Slack Gets a Smart Robot Helper

Salesforce, a big company that makes tools for businesses, just turned Slack into something much more powerful. Slack is an app where workers chat and share files, kind of like a group text message for work teams. Now, the chatbot in Slack - which is called Slackbot - can do real work on its own. It can listen to meetings and write down what was talked about. It can create a list of things that need to get done. It can even update the computer systems where companies keep customer information. Now, with reusable AI skills, you can take those same instructions and use them for something totally different - like saying goodbye to workers who are leaving. You don't have to write everything again. This saves workers tons of time.

Slackbot can now also work with other computer tools and coordinate between them. It's like how a manager might talk to the sales team, the accounting team, and the design team all at once. The AI can connect with Agentforce, which is Salesforce's bigger AI assistant tool. It can pull information from lots of different places and put it together in ways that make sense.

The Money is Flowing Into AI

This new technology from Salesforce comes at a time when companies are throwing huge amounts of money at anything related to AI. In just the first quarter of 2026 - that's three months - companies raised $300 billion for new startups. To understand how crazy that is, that's more money than was raised in entire years before 2019! The biggest AI companies got most of this money. OpenAI got $122 billion, Anthropic got $30 billion, and xAI got $20 billion. These are companies making the smartest AI models that exist right now.

But it's not just the huge companies. Even smaller AI startups are getting bigger checks earlier than ever before. Investors believe that the future of work is going to be filled with AI agents - smart software that does specific jobs really well. Some of these agents will answer customer questions.
