Startups Weekly AI News
December 15 - December 23, 2025AI agents are becoming the next big thing in technology, and several companies got huge amounts of money to build them this week. AI agents are computer programs that can do complicated tasks without a person telling them what to do at each step. Companies like PolyAI, which makes AI that answers phone calls, just got $86 million from investors to help big companies like Marriott handle customer calls automatically. Another company called Mindoo in Belgium received $5 million to help hospitals use AI agents so that doctors and nurses can focus on more important work. Ankar, based in London, got $20 million to use AI agents to help with complicated legal paperwork and patents. These companies are part of a much bigger trend where more than 1,000 different agentic AI tools were created in 2025. Big companies are also testing out their own AI agents. Capital One, a large credit card company, created an AI agent called Chat Concierge that helps people buying cars ask questions and book test drives. The AI has made it 55% better at turning people interested in cars into actual buyers. Even though many companies are still learning how to use these new tools, experts say that by 2028, AI agents could do 15% of daily work decisions in companies. The technology is moving very fast, and investors are putting billions of dollars into it because they believe AI agents will change how people work.
