Startups Weekly AI News

July 14 - July 22, 2025

This week saw exciting developments in AI agent startups. Thinking Machines, led by Mira Murati, raised $2 billion at a $10 billion valuation to build autonomous AI systems for businesses. This huge funding shows strong investor confidence in agentic AI.

Another startup called Blaxel secured $7.3 million to create infrastructure tools that help AI agents work better. Their technology makes it easier for agents to perform complex tasks.

Pig.dev, a Y Combinator startup, changed direction this week. They stopped working on AI agents for Windows computers and instead launched Muscle Mem - a new system that helps AI agents remember repetitive tasks. This pivot shows how startups are adapting to solve real problems in agent technology.

Tools like Browser Use (created by another Y Combinator company) are becoming important too. They help AI agents understand and interact with websites by turning buttons and links into simple text instructions. This technology was used by the Chinese agent tool Manus which recently went viral.
