Hands-on, vendor-led workshops and local meetups focused on building production-ready agents (no-code to code-first); observability and meta-harness tooling surfaced as immediate prerequisites for safe factory deployments; and identity/asset management for agents moved from conceptual to operational attention. These items together signal a shift from pilots to production readiness for manufacturing use‑cases such as maintenance orchestration, quality incident response, and schedule rebalancing.

What changed

1. Google Cloud ran a hands-on Build with Gemini program that emphasizes end-to-end, production-ready agent patterns (no-code, low-code, and code-first tracks) — the event is explicitly aimed at moving enterprise teams from concept to deployed agents.

2. Microsoft/LevelShift held an “Agent in a Day” workshop (Aug 12) to teach Copilot Studio–based agents for automating business workflows, a pragmatic entry path for operations, planning and frontline scenarios in manufacturing.

3. Security vendors stepped into agent identity and inventory: AuthMind ran a webinar (Aug 13) on agent identity protection, showing that organizations need continuous discovery, classification, and access controls for agents that touch vaults, APIs and OT/IT bridges.

4. Local engineering meetups (Databricks / Agentic + AI Observability in San Francisco, Aug 12–13) demoed meta‑harness patterns, MLflow tracing, and Omnigent examples for runtime governance and traceability of multi‑agent executions — the exact telemetry layers factories will need to audit decisions.

5. The Agentic AI Foundation published its global events program (includes MCP Dev Summit Seoul, Aug 13–14), signaling coordinated work on open protocols (MCP, goose, AGENTS.md) that manufacturing integrators should watch and test against.

What to do with it

1. Run a one‑day internal Agent-in-a-Day workshop (map to a single production problem: e.g., reactive maintenance or quality triage). Use the workshop to define success criteria, approval gates, and human‑in‑the‑loop boundaries.

2. Treat agent identity as first‑class infrastructure: inventory all agents, require unique credentials, and add attestations for any agent that calls downstream OT/ERP systems. Start with the practices highlighted in vendor briefings and the AuthMind playbook.

3. Instrument for observability now: capture structured traces, durable decision records, cost budgets and evaluation traces (MLflow / Omnigent patterns shown at the meetup). Use those traces as your audit and rollback hooks.

4. Evaluate MCP/goose compatibility for any agent integration and plan to test at an MCP Dev Summit or AAIF‑aligned developer track. Prioritize agents that can be sandboxed, traced, and updated without redeploying critical production systems.

5. Shortlist one vendor pathway (cloud partner workshop + in‑house pilot + identity/observability stack) and budget for 2–3 months of runway to reach a gated, production pilot.
