This week brought major updates in AI laws worldwide. The EU AI Act is moving forward with no delays. Key rules start on August 2, 2025 for general-purpose AI models. The EU published a new GPAI Code of Practice to help companies follow these rules.

Other countries are making AI laws too. California will require big AI makers to provide free detection tools starting in 2026. China has rules requiring AI content to be true and fair. Switzerland signed an international AI agreement but hasn't made it law yet.

Agentic AI (self-operating AI) still has no special rules anywhere. Experts say this might change as this technology grows. Companies worldwide must prepare for these new laws to avoid big fines.
