Building Trust Between Humans and AI Agents

This week brought exciting news about how technology companies and governments are working to make sure people can trust AI agents - computers that can make decisions on their own. An AI agent is a smart computer system that can do tasks without a person telling it every step to take.

One of the biggest announcements came from a company called Humanity. They said they created something called Proof of Trust. This new system lets people prove facts about themselves, like where they live or how old they are, without sharing their personal information. This is important because the internet is getting filled with fake accounts and fake people created by AI. Real businesses, banks, and social media websites need to know if they are talking to real humans or computer programs.

At the same time, the United States government announced a new plan called the AI Agent Standards Initiative. This means government leaders are taking this seriously. They want to make sure AI agents work safely together and don't hurt people. They also want everyone to trust these agents.

A school in Canada called Ontario Tech University is teaching students about trustworthy AI too. Their students are testing a new AI learning helper that keeps their homework and personal information private. The school built this tool to show students how to make AI that people can trust.

Businesses are also getting excited about using AI agents to help them work faster. Companies like Salesforce and Intercom are making lots of money from agentic AI products. But companies worry about keeping control of these AI agents and making sure they don't make bad decisions.
