This weekly update brings exciting news about AI helpers in healthcare. These special computer programs, called AI agents, are changing how doctors and nurses take care of patients.

On October 16, Microsoft announced big updates to its Dragon Copilot program. Dragon Copilot is like a smart assistant that helps doctors and nurses with their work. The company said it will now help nurses too, not just doctors. This is important because nurses do different jobs than doctors, and they need their own special AI helper.

Microsoft is also letting other companies build special tools that work with Dragon Copilot. These tools can do many things. Some help doctors find the right medical information quickly. Others help with paperwork so doctors can spend more time with patients. One tool called Canary Speech can even listen to how people talk to spot health problems early.

A survey by Google Cloud found that 44% of healthcare companies around the world are now using AI agents. The survey talked to 605 company leaders between April and June 2025. Healthcare companies use these AI helpers most often for tech support (53%), followed by security (49%), and helping with research (46%).

The survey also found good news about money. Most healthcare leaders (73%) said their AI programs are making money back. Some companies said AI helped them earn 6% more money each year.

One company called IKS Health explained how they use multiple AI agents working together. First, one AI agent takes notes during doctor visits. Then another AI agent checks the notes and adds medical codes. If the patient needs special approval for treatment, a third AI agent helps with that. A real person checks everything at the end to make sure it's correct.

The HLTH conference started on October 20 in Las Vegas. This big meeting brings together healthcare leaders to talk about new technology. This year, AI is the biggest topic. The space for AI at the conference is twice as big as last year.
