Business Automation Weekly AI News
February 9 - February 17, 2026This Week's Business Automation Update
AI Agents Are Now the Top Way Companies Grow
Business automation is changing faster than ever before. According to a big study by Salesforce, which is a company that helps businesses sell products, 87% of all companies are now using some kind of AI. Even more important, 54% of companies have already started using AI agents to help them work. An AI agent is like a computer helper that can think, learn, and make decisions on its own without a person telling it exactly what to do every step of the way. These agents are not just helping companies — they are becoming the most important tool for growing their business.
How Much Time Do AI Agents Save?
Companies using AI agents are saving a lot of time. The Salesforce study shows that AI agents cut the time for research work by over one-third, and they also save over one-third of the time for writing content. This means workers can focus on more important work instead of doing the same boring tasks over and over. The companies that are best at using AI agents are doing much better than other companies. Salesforce found that the top-performing companies are 1.7 times more likely to use AI agents than companies that are struggling.
New AI Tools Are Getting Much Cheaper
One big change happening this week is that AI tools are becoming much cheaper to use. A Chinese company called MiniMax released two new AI models called M2.5 and M2.5 Lightning that work almost as well as the best AI tools, but cost only 1/20th of the price. This is really important because it means more companies can afford to use powerful AI agents. MiniMax says that companies could run multiple AI agents all day long for about $10,000 per year. When AI costs less money, more companies try using it, and this helps them automate more work.
People in Professional Services Are Using AI Too
Professional services are fields like law, accounting, and business consulting — jobs where people help other businesses with important decisions. In 2026, 40% of people working in professional services are now using AI tools, which is almost double compared to before. Many of these companies are getting ready to use AI agents next, which means AI will help with even more complicated work.
Important Challenges Companies Face
Even though AI agents are powerful, companies are facing problems when they try to use them. The biggest problem is that many companies have computer systems that don't work together very well. When computers can't talk to each other, AI agents can't do their jobs properly. Because of this, 74% of workers say it's very important to clean up their data — which means making sure their information is organized and correct. Companies that are doing well with AI are spending extra effort on this. About 79% of the best-performing companies are focused on making their data clean, while only 54% of struggling companies are doing this.
Real Examples of AI Automation Success
Some companies are already seeing amazing results from AI agents. C.H. Robinson is a big transportation and logistics company that has been using AI agents called "Lean AI" since 2022. This company has increased its productivity by more than 40%, automated millions of shipping tasks, and saved thousands of hours of work every single day. Bank of America analysts are calling C.H. Robinson an "AI disruptor" because it is using AI to disrupt the entire transportation industry — in a good way for their business.
Important Leaders Are Warning About AI's Speed
Leaders at big technology companies are talking about how fast AI is changing work. Mustafa Suleyman, who leads Microsoft's AI work, says that AI will be able to do almost all white-collar jobs in the next 12 to 18 months. White-collar jobs are jobs where people work at computers, like being a lawyer, accountant, marketing person, or project manager. He says this is already happening in software engineering — the people who write computer code.
Humans and AI Need to Work Together
However, smart business leaders say that AI should not make important decisions all by itself. A big bank called BBVA is using AI to help organize information and show what might happen in different situations. But BBVA says that actual decisions, the reasons for decisions, and who is responsible for decisions must stay with humans. This is an important lesson: AI agents are best when they help humans work faster and smarter, not when they try to replace human thinking completely.
What This Means for Business
Business automation using AI agents is moving from being something companies experiment with to being something they must do to stay competitive. Companies that use AI agents are pulling ahead of companies that don't use them. However, success with AI requires companies to have clean, organized data, good systems that work together, and clear rules about how AI should help people make decisions. The companies winning with AI are those that see AI agents as helpers for workers, not replacements for workers.
