Ethics & Safety Weekly AI News

April 21 - April 29, 2025

This week, the United States took a big step in AI ethics for schools. Nevada’s Department of Education released new rules called “Nevada’s STELLAR Pathway” to help teachers use AI tools like tutoring bots or grading systems safely. The rules focus on fair access, student privacy, and making sure AI helps teachers instead of replacing them. Over 500 people, including parents and teachers, helped create these rules to address worries about bias in AI and protect student data.

Globally, AI in defense systems continued to spark debates. Earlier in April, experts warned that military AI needs strict rules to avoid mistakes or misuse. While not new this week, these concerns highlight why ethical guides like Nevada’s are important for all AI uses.
