Creative Industries Weekly AI News
October 6 - October 14, 2025This weekly update brings major news about artificial intelligence in creative industries around the world.
In the United States, a big fight started between OpenAI and Hollywood studios. OpenAI released a new tool called Sora 2 that can create videos using AI. The tool can even put real actors' faces into fake videos without asking permission first. Movie studios like Warner Bros. and talent agencies got very upset about this. They said OpenAI needs to ask before using actors' faces and characters.
Also in the US, an advertising agency called Huge bought a smaller company called Both&Yes. Both&Yes knows how to build AI tools for creative work. This purchase shows that advertising companies are getting ready for a future where AI does more creative work. The founders of Both&Yes used to work at Google and YouTube making AI experiences.
In the United Kingdom, creative workers are worried about AI taking their jobs. A fake AI actor called Tilly Norwood made many real actors nervous. The actors' union called Equity said that humans should always be the ones doing creative work, not AI. They want AI to be a helper tool, not a replacement for people.
Experts are also talking about a big problem with AI: it needs human creativity to work properly. If AI only learns from other AI content, it stops working well. This is called model collapse. So even though AI seems powerful, it still needs real human artists to create original work.
