Coding Weekly AI News
October 6 - October 14, 2025This weekly update brings exciting news about AI coding agents that are changing how people write computer programs. These smart tools are getting better at helping developers build software faster and easier.
Several big technology companies released new AI coding helpers. Meta launched DevMate, which can look at entire programs, find mistakes, and suggest better ways to write code. Google introduced Jules, a coding agent that works right in your computer's command line to help developers. Amazon created Quick Suite, which uses agentic AI to help developers ask questions about data and connect different systems together.
Microsoft is making big changes to its GitHub service to compete with newer AI tools like Cursor and Claude Code. The company wants GitHub to become the main place where developers use AI to build software. Microsoft is updating GitHub so AI tools can work everywhere developers need them, whether in web browsers, coding apps, or command lines.
IBM announced Project Bob, a brand-new way to write code using AI. Unlike regular coding helpers, Project Bob can handle big tasks like upgrading old software and making sure programs are secure. The tool works with many different AI models including Anthropic Claude and IBM Granite. Atlassian also made its AI coding agent called Rovo Dev available for everyone to use.
Developers around the world are using these tools in creative ways. Some use them to build website features, fix errors in their code, or create scripts that help manage computer systems. An open-source tool called OpenCode brings AI right into the terminal window, letting developers work without switching between different programs. The tool has become very popular with over 26,000 stars on GitHub.
