Marketing Weekly AI News

August 25 - September 2, 2025

This weekly update shows big changes in how AI agents are changing marketing. Google's new AI tools are making it harder for websites to get clicks. When people search on Google now, they see AI Overviews that answer questions right on the search page. This means fewer people click on website links.

The numbers are scary for marketers. Position #1 websites now get 32% fewer clicks than before. Almost 4 out of 10 marketers say they lost website traffic after Google added AI Overviews. But there's good news too - websites that show up in positions 6 to 10 are getting 30% more clicks.

Browser agents are the next big thing. Perplexity, an AI search company, wants to buy Google's Chrome browser for $34.5 billion. Anthropic also made a browser agent that can use websites for you. These agents can read your emails, check your calendar, and even access your bank accounts.

Many companies are building AI agents for Excel. Three different companies raised millions of dollars in August to build these tools. Endex AI got $14 million, Shortcut raised $44.5 million, and Paradigm got $5 million.

OpenAI made big moves too. They raised $8.3 billion and now make $13 billion per year. They also released GPT-5, which picks the right AI model for each task. OpenAI is also working on their own web browser to compete with Google.

Social media platforms are changing how they track marketing too. TikTok now watches what people do after they click on ads without needing special tracking codes. This helps marketers see if their ads really work.

But there are security worries with AI agents. Bad people are using them for crimes and fraud. As these agents get more powerful, companies need to be more careful about how they're used.
