Agentic AI is becoming real in hospitals and clinics around the world. These are AI systems that can work independently to help doctors and patients without needing constant human control. This week, major healthcare organizations announced exciting new uses for these intelligent agents.

One of the biggest announcements came from IQVIA, a major healthcare company, which launched IQVIA.ai. This platform includes over 150 different specialized AI agents that can handle complex tasks. For example, some agents help select the right hospitals for clinical trials, which normally takes a lot of human work. Another company called Hippocratic AI is building AI agents that talk directly to patients. These agents help people manage long-term illnesses and follow up with them after they leave the hospital.

In the United States, researchers at the University of Florida are building an AI system for rural areas called PARADIGM. This system guides regular people through medical tests using artificial intelligence, so they can bring hospital-level care to places where doctors are hard to find. Meanwhile, Mount Sinai Health System researchers discovered that using multiple specialized AI agents that work together actually works better than using one large AI agent.

Hospitals are also using AI robots now. VSee launched an autonomous telehealth robot that can move around hospital rooms using special navigation technology. Doctors can send this robot to patients' bedsides from far away to check on them or deliver supplies. Additionally, HeidiHealth, a platform from Europe, is helping doctors with clinical paperwork in 190 countries by listening to doctor-patient conversations.

Despite these exciting developments, experts are focused on making sure AI stays safe and trustworthy. The World Health Organization is building a global network to help countries use AI responsibly in healthcare. Doctors themselves are very interested in AI—about 63% of doctors in the United States are now using AI in their daily work. The medical industry is learning that agentic AI must be carefully designed, properly tested, and closely monitored to help patients without causing harm. Healthcare leaders agree that these AI agents will be crucial to helping overwhelmed hospitals handle more patients while keeping care high quality.
