Education & Learning Weekly AI News
January 12 - January 20, 2026Agentic AI is changing how education works around the world. Agentic AI means artificial intelligence systems that can think, plan, and do tasks on their own, instead of just answering questions. Schools and companies are now training people to work with these smart systems. One education company called General Assembly used agentic AI to help teachers create classes much faster. Instead of spending hours writing lesson plans, they now finish them in minutes. This saves time and lets teachers focus on making sure the lessons are really good.
Many schools around the world are offering new classes about agentic AI. In the United States, Arizona State University (ASU) started a new course called "The Agentic Self" in January 2026. Companies like Andrew Ng's education platform, IBM, Microsoft, and NVIDIA all created training programs to teach people about agentic AI. Some programs cost just $10, while others cost more depending on what you learn. For students in India, programs cost around $632, and for students in other countries, they might cost $1,440.
Learning is becoming more personalized and interactive. AI agents can now explain ideas instantly and help each student learn in their own way. Teachers can focus on what matters most - helping students work together, think carefully, and learn from each other. However, organizations say there is still a big gap between what they want agentic AI to do and what it can actually do right now.
