India activated its Digital Personal Data Protection Act (DPDPA) establishing a modern privacy framework with steep penalties for violations. The law requires prompt breach reporting and limits how companies can use Indians' digital data. Meanwhile, the European Union entered its first EU AI Act enforcement phase, banning high-risk practices like social scoring systems and unwarranted biometric surveillance.
Businesses faced escalating compliance challenges with eight new U.S. state laws and international regulations like India's DPDPA taking effect. Organizations must now implement discovery tools to identify regulated data, automate consumer rights workflows, and maintain dynamic compliance frameworks across jurisdictions.
