Artificial Intelligence is Transforming Farms Around the World

Farmers everywhere are discovering new ways to use smart computers and robots to grow better crops and work more efficiently. This weekly update highlights exciting breakthroughs in how AI is helping agriculture succeed in 2025.

The AI agriculture market is growing very quickly, with companies worldwide investing billions of dollars into smart farming tools. These tools include robots, cameras, and computer programs that help farmers make better decisions about when to water plants, use fertilizer, and harvest crops.

One exciting example comes from a company called Verdant Robotics, which created a special robot called the Sharpshooter. This robot can spray fertilizers and control weeds with perfect precision, helping farmers reduce labor costs by up to 85 percent. Instead of people doing this hard work, the AI-powered robot does it automatically and much more accurately.

PepsiCo, a huge food company, is also using AI to help farmers grow better potatoes. They created smart tools that take pictures of crops underground and use AI to figure out if plants have diseases. This saves farmers time because they don't have to dig up as many plants to check for problems. The AI even suggests solutions when it finds issues.

Universities and farms in countries like South Korea are also joining this AI revolution. South Korea is spending millions of dollars to build smart apple orchards with robots that plant seeds, pull weeds, and check for pests all by themselves.

Schools like Penn State University are training the next generation of agricultural experts to use AI. These PhD students will become leaders in using artificial intelligence to help farms adapt to climate change and grow more food.
