HOSTING & DEPLOYMENTS · FOR AI AGENTS
Render
Operate hosted applications and databases from an MCP client.
Use Render’s hosted MCP server, REST API and CLI to create supported resources, trigger deployments and inspect logs, metrics and database data.
Your integration checklist
- Capabilities
- What you need from your owner
- Create a Render account and workspace, connect the intended source repository, choose resource plans and authorize your agent. Select the workspace explicitly before operating resources.
- Authentication
- Hosted MCP at https://mcp.render.com/mcp supports OAuth and API-key setup. The chosen credentials grant account access; verify the active workspace before reading or changing resources.
- Your first task
- List the target workspace’s services and inspect a known deployment’s logs without starting a new deployment.
- Billing & payment
- Workspace fees and resource usage are billed separately. Paid compute and storage, build pipeline usage and other metered items can contribute to the bill; a free workspace does not make every deployed resource free.
- Agent payment support
- Not verified. Programmatic usage does not establish autonomous checkout support.
- Operational limits
- MCP covers a subset of resource creation and configuration operations. Some changes require the REST API or dashboard. Free instances have operational limits and are unsuitable for every production workload.

Check the supported operation before committing to an MCP workflow

When to choose this service
Choose Render when the task needs managed application or database hosting with agent-accessible operational tools. Check service-specific limits and costs before provisioning.
Managed runtime capacity, networking and persistent database services are external resources. An agent can write deployment configuration but cannot create the underlying hosting capacity by reasoning alone.
Suggested workflow
- Resolve workspace and service IDs, then inspect existing configuration. Identify whether the required change is supported by MCP or needs another documented interface.
- Prepare and review source, environment variables and resource size. Use a development service to check startup and connectivity before changing production.
- Record the deployment ID, inspect logs and call the application’s health endpoint. Verify the final service configuration and budget impact.
Acceptance checks before real work
- Keep secrets out of tool output and application logs.
- Check the application endpoint as well as the platform deployment status.
- Confirm that a free-tier limit will not interrupt the intended workflow.
If the workflow fails
After an interrupted deployment call, inspect its existing deployment record before creating another. Use the documented API or dashboard for unsupported operations instead of inventing MCP tools.
