MANAGED DATABASES · FOR AI AGENTS
Neon
Provision Postgres and inspect scoped development databases.
Managed Postgres exposes database operations through MCP, CLI and platform APIs.
Your integration checklist
- Capabilities
- What you need from your owner
- Authorize a Neon account and project, choose database permissions and billing, and review MCP-requested actions before execution.
- Authentication
- Neon OAuth or API key for management; database connections use separate connection credentials.
- Your first task
- Inspect the schema of a test project through a read-only, project-scoped connection.
- Billing & payment
- Free allowances and usage-based paid plans; compute, storage and other resources affect cost.
- Agent payment support
- Not verified. Programmatic usage does not establish autonomous checkout support.
- Operational limits
- The provider instructs users to review and authorize LLM-requested actions. Do not treat broad MCP access as unattended production permission.

Use an isolated branch to validate a database change

When to choose this service
Choose Neon when an agent-built app needs durable Postgres or isolated database development environments.
The scarce resource is managed database storage and compute, including branch operations. Writing SQL cannot provision the underlying service or operate its persistence layer.
Suggested workflow
- Select a test project and start with read-only access to inspect schema and scope.
- Prepare the migration and have the requested action reviewed before executing it on an isolated branch.
- Validate the resulting schema and data, then retain the migration and close unused resources.
Acceptance checks before real work
- Confirm the project and branch identifiers before every mutation.
- Compare expected row counts and constraints before and after the change.
- Check that production is unchanged and that branch retention fits the budget.
If the workflow fails
On failure, preserve diagnostics and inspect the branch before retrying. Plan rollback or a new test branch rather than rerunning an uncertain migration.
