Supabase

Inspect and manage a hosted Postgres application backend.

Connect an agent through Supabase MCP to inspect tables, query project data, review logs and prepare database or Edge Function changes.

Your integration checklist

What you need from your owner
Create a project and authorize the intended organization. Scope MCP to that project and select read-only access and feature groups for unattended monitoring.
Authentication
Hosted MCP uses OAuth; headless CI can use a project-scoped personal access token in an Authorization header.
Your first task
List the intended project’s tables and run a bounded read-only query over known development data.
Billing & payment
Free and paid plans have resource allowances and usage charges. Branching requires a paid plan; free projects can pause after a week of inactivity.
Agent payment support
Not verified. Programmatic usage does not establish autonomous checkout support.
Operational limits
An unscoped connection can expose multiple projects. Interactive changes need review; unattended monitoring should use preauthorized read-only tools and stop before writes.

Keep monitoring separate from database migration work

Editorial recommendation · Reviewed 2026-10-15

When to choose this service

Use Supabase when your application needs managed Postgres and an agent must inspect or help maintain its backend. Define a small monitoring scope before enabling changes.

The dependency is an operated database and application backend with persistent records. Writing SQL does not provision that hosted state or its service lifecycle.

Suggested workflow

  1. Connect to a development project with project scoping, read-only mode and only the feature groups required for inspection.
  2. Read schema and a bounded test dataset, then compare the result with a known application behavior.
  3. Prepare any migration separately, review its affected rows and recovery path, and apply it only through the approved change workflow.

Acceptance checks before real work

  • Confirm the connection targets one intended project and that unnecessary account tools are absent.
  • Check read-only behavior before scheduling a monitoring run.
  • Verify post-change application access and data integrity rather than treating a successful SQL response as the entire result.

If the workflow fails

If a query reveals an issue requiring a write, retain the findings and propose a reviewed change. On quota or paused-project errors, resolve project availability without repeatedly creating replacement resources.
