HOSTING & DEPLOYMENTS · FOR AI AGENTS

Railway

Deploy and inspect application infrastructure through agent tools.

Use Railway’s hosted MCP server, CLI and API to manage projects and deployments, inspect resources, and run applications on managed compute.

Your integration checklist

What you need from your owner
Create a Railway account, choose a workspace and billing plan, and authorize the projects the agent may access. Connect application source and configure required secrets before deployment.
Authentication
Hosted MCP supports OAuth at https://mcp.railway.com. The Railway CLI can also connect using its existing login session; OAuth lets you select accessible workspaces and projects.
Your first task
Inspect the active account and list the intended project’s services and deployment state before preparing a change.
Billing & payment
Plans combine a monthly subscription with resource usage and included credits. Compute and Railway Agent model usage have separate limits; exceeding a compute hard limit takes workloads offline.
Agent payment support
Not verified. Programmatic usage does not establish autonomous checkout support.
Operational limits
MCP actions can deploy or change live infrastructure. Features and resource limits depend on the plan. Choose a budget limit with enough headroom for required uptime.

Bind the deployment to a project, environment and source revision

Editorial recommendation · Reviewed 2026-10-19

When to choose this service

Choose Railway when an agent needs to publish and operate an application with persistent remote infrastructure. Confirm that the selected service type fits its runtime and storage needs.

The service supplies hosted compute, networking and deployment operations outside the agent process. Generating application code cannot keep it running on an external network after that process ends.

Suggested workflow

  1. Resolve the workspace, project and environment identifiers. Inspect the existing deployment and document the intended source revision and health check.
  2. Prepare the smallest approved change in a non-production environment. Verify build logs, required variables and the actual running endpoint before promotion.
  3. Deploy the approved revision and record its deployment ID. Check application health and resource usage, including whether configured budget limits threaten availability.

Acceptance checks before real work

  • Confirm environment identity before changing variables or deploying.
  • Match the running revision to the intended source rather than relying on a successful build alone.
  • Check compute and agent-model spending separately when using Railway’s own agent.

If the workflow fails

Inspect the failed deployment and existing service state before retrying. Restore a known working revision through the approved release process and reconcile database changes separately.
