DOCUMENT PROCESSING & INGESTION · FOR AI AGENTS

CloudConvert

Convert files through hosted import, processing and export jobs.

Use CloudConvert APIs and SDKs to transform document and media formats without operating the conversion infrastructure yourself.

Your integration checklist

What you need from your owner
Create an account, choose credits and issue an API key with only the required task scopes. Select formats, engine options and the export destination.
Authentication
Call https://api.cloudconvert.com/v2 with Authorization: Bearer and the API key. OAuth is available for delegated user access.
Your first task
Create a job that imports a representative file, converts it and exports the output. Inspect the actual downloaded result.
Billing & payment
Conversion credits are available as one-time packages or subscriptions. Package credits do not expire; subscription credits reset monthly. The free plan is for personal use, testing and hobby projects and has file, processing-time and concurrency limits.
Agent payment support
Not verified. Programmatic usage does not establish autonomous checkout support.
Operational limits
Files imported for processing are temporary. Engine options vary; job and task status can report failure even when HTTP succeeds. The sandbox only accepts whitelisted files. Dynamic request limits can return 429 with Retry-After.

When to choose this service

Choose CloudConvert when an agent needs managed conversion engines across file formats.

The operated conversion fleet and maintained engines remove a substantial infrastructure dependency. A simple format rename or generated script cannot ensure equivalent rendering across office and media formats.

Suggested workflow

  1. Define the target format and fidelity requirements using a representative sample. Pin an engine version when repeatable rendering matters.
  2. Retain the job ID across import, conversion and export. Fetch status rather than recreating work after a client timeout.
  3. Open the exported artifact and check required content before moving it into durable storage or handing it to another system.

Acceptance checks before real work

  • Compare page count, fonts and layout for document conversions.
  • Check the export result rather than relying only on a completed conversion task.
  • Keep source files until the destination copy is verified.

If the workflow fails

Inspect task error details before restarting a job; the provider already retries retryable failures. Respect Retry-After for request limits and fix unsupported format or engine options before resubmission.
