Nylas

Connect agents to email, calendars and meeting records.

Use Nylas APIs and MCP tools to read authorized inboxes, check availability, manage calendar events and work with meeting records. Agent Accounts can provide an agent’s own hosted inbox and calendar.

Your integration checklist

What you need from your owner
Create a Nylas application and connect an authorized account or provision an Agent Account. Grant only the account resources and actions needed for the workflow.
Authentication
MCP uses a Nylas API key in an Authorization bearer header. Select the US or EU endpoint matching the application’s data region and use a narrowly scoped IAM key.
Your first task
List the intended account’s calendars and inspect a known event without changing it or sending invitations.
Billing & payment
Plans include connected-account, Agent Account and usage allowances. Paid overages vary by account count, emails, storage, bandwidth and Notetaker hours; some free-plan limits are fixed.
Agent payment support
Not verified. Programmatic usage does not establish autonomous checkout support.
Operational limits
Provider permissions and rate limits still apply. MCP requests have a 90-second timeout. Sending email and changing events can affect other people; use the approved confirmation and review workflow.

Resolve account identity and time zones before booking

Editorial recommendation · Reviewed 2026-10-17

When to choose this service

Choose Nylas when an agent needs authorized email or calendar access across providers, or its own hosted communication account. Begin with a read-only account check.

The dependency is real mailbox delivery, calendar state and authorized provider connections. An agent can compose an invitation but cannot infer current availability or deliver it through an unconnected account.

Suggested workflow

  1. Resolve the grant and calendar identifiers, then read the target event or availability window with an explicit time zone.
  2. Prepare a proposed change with its attendees, timing and notification behavior. Recheck availability immediately before an approved booking.
  3. Perform the authorized operation once, retain the returned identifier and retrieve the result. Confirm the final event or message state before reporting completion.

Acceptance checks before real work

  • Match account and calendar IDs rather than relying on display names alone.
  • Check daylight-saving offsets for the actual event date.
  • Distinguish a draft or accepted request from a sent message or confirmed calendar result.

If the workflow fails

After a timeout, inspect existing messages or events before retrying a write. If a grant expires, restore the intended authorization instead of switching to another account.
