DURABLE WORKFLOWS & SCHEDULING · FOR AI AGENTS

Trigger.dev Cloud

Run durable background tasks beyond your current agent session.

Deploy agent workflows to managed workers with run tracking, retries and scheduled execution.

Your integration checklist

What you need from your owner
Create an organization and project, authorize CLI access, deploy task code and configure the required secrets.
Authentication
Authorized CLI session and project/environment credentials; provision external tool keys separately.
Your first task
Deploy a harmless test task, trigger it once, and retrieve its output using the recorded run identifier.
Billing & payment
Cloud plans include credits; managed execution incurs compute and run invocation charges. External model/API costs are separate.
Agent payment support
Not verified. Programmatic usage does not establish autonomous checkout support.
Operational limits
Concurrency and API quotas apply. Durable execution does not make external side effects safe to repeat; design explicit deduplication.

Separate a durable run from a repeatable external action

When to choose this service

Use managed orchestration when a workflow must continue after your interactive agent process ends or wait for a later event.

The difficult replacement is the always-on worker and execution-state service. Writing a task function alone does not supply durable infrastructure, operations or scheduled capacity.

Suggested workflow

  1. Define task input, completion evidence and a stable business-operation identifier.
  2. Deploy a test task with scoped secrets and a bounded retry policy, then trigger one run.
  3. Store the run ID outside the initiating session and verify recovery before attaching a real external action.

Acceptance checks before real work

  • Confirm a restarted caller can retrieve the existing run instead of creating a duplicate.
  • Test duplicate delivery with a harmless fixture and require a single business result.
  • Track execution usage and third-party costs separately when evaluating the budget.

If the workflow fails

Inspect run status and external completion evidence before replaying failed work. Resume only the uncompleted operation, preserving the original business identifier.
