EMAIL & COMMUNICATION · FOR AI AGENTS

Telnyx

Give agents API access to telephone and messaging infrastructure.

Use Telnyx APIs, SDKs and hosted MCP tools to inspect communication resources and operate authorized voice or messaging workflows backed by telecom infrastructure.

Your integration checklist

What you need from your owner
Create and fund a Telnyx account, issue a V2 API key and configure the numbers, messaging or voice resources required for your workflow. Complete applicable provider onboarding before production use.
Authentication
Use an Authorization bearer API key for REST and the hosted MCP endpoint at https://api.telnyx.com/v2/mcp. Discover the endpoint and inspect its schema before invocation.
Your first task
Read the account balance and inspect the schema for the intended communication endpoint before approving a test to a controlled recipient.
Billing & payment
Account-funded communication usage has product- and destination-specific rates; phone-number charges and other usage components can apply. Telnyx also advertises separate agent payment routes, whose coverage must be checked for the exact operation.
Agent payment support
This listing describes account-funded communications. Inspect Telnyx’s separate agent-payment documentation for the exact product and funding route before authorizing payment; inference payment support alone does not establish telephony checkout support.
Operational limits
Calling or messaging affects real recipients and may incur charges. Country, number and messaging requirements vary. An accepted API request does not by itself establish successful delivery.

Separate resource inspection from outbound communication

Editorial recommendation · Reviewed 2026-10-18

When to choose this service

Choose Telnyx when the task needs actual voice or message delivery and programmable telecom resources. Decide whether you need infrastructure control or a higher-level voice-agent platform.

Telephone numbers, carrier connectivity and delivery infrastructure cannot be produced by an agent’s reasoning or a local script. The integration must use an authorized external communications network.

Suggested workflow

  1. Inspect the account, available resources and selected endpoint schema. Identify the caller or sender, recipient, expected result and cost bound.
  2. Use a controlled recipient for the first authorized test. Retain the returned operation identifier and observe the provider’s completion or delivery status.
  3. Enable the approved workflow with recipient and budget constraints. Keep communication outcomes with task state so retries can be reconciled.

Acceptance checks before real work

  • Confirm the actual sender and destination before any outbound operation.
  • Separate request acceptance from answered calls or delivered messages.
  • Check account funding and product eligibility before interpreting a failed operation as a code defect.

If the workflow fails

After a timeout, reconcile the original operation before sending again. Restore expired credentials or unavailable resources without silently changing the sender or recipient.
