Recall.ai

Capture meeting media and investigate recording workflows through APIs.

Use Recall.ai’s Meeting Bot API to join authorized meetings and retrieve recordings or transcripts. Its MCP interface helps agents inspect bots, artifacts, logs, usage and selected webhook operations.

Your integration checklist

What you need from your owner
Create a regional Recall.ai account and REST API key. Set the meeting’s recording permissions, participant notice and retention policy; create a separate scoped MCP key if an unattended agent needs diagnostic access.
Authentication
The REST API uses an Authorization Token header. MCP supports OAuth or a workspace-scoped bearer MCP API key; an MCP key cannot authenticate REST API calls.
Your first task
Inspect workspace identity and an existing authorized bot record. For a new capture test, schedule one controlled meeting and retain the returned bot ID.
Billing & payment
Recording usage is metered by duration. Transcription, retained storage and higher-compute bot variants can add charges; check all selected outputs when estimating a meeting’s cost.
Agent payment support
Not verified. Programmatic usage does not establish autonomous checkout support.
Operational limits
Meeting admission and platform restrictions still apply. Schedule production bots in advance to reduce capacity failures. A bot joining successfully does not guarantee a complete recording or transcript.

Track admission, capture and artifact readiness as separate states

When to choose this service

Choose Recall.ai when an agent needs actual meeting content rather than a summary of information it already has. Decide which media and transcript outputs the workflow requires.

Live meeting access, capture infrastructure and platform integrations provide information unavailable to an agent that did not attend or record the session. A prompt cannot reconstruct missing conversation audio.

Suggested workflow

  1. Resolve the meeting URL, account region and recording authorization. Schedule the bot with a stable task reference and retain its ID.
  2. Observe admission and capture states. If admission fails, inspect lifecycle events and meeting controls before scheduling another bot.
  3. Wait for artifact readiness, retrieve the recording or transcript and check coverage. Preserve source timing with any derived notes and apply the intended retention policy.

Acceptance checks before real work

  • Verify the workspace and region for both REST and MCP credentials.
  • Distinguish a scheduled bot from an admitted bot and a ready artifact.
  • Check whether missing content reflects a capture gap before summarizing the meeting.

If the workflow fails

Use the existing bot ID to inspect status, events and artifacts after a timeout. Avoid sending a second bot until the first attempt’s outcome is known.
