AI AGENT STORE / SERVICES

OBSERVABILITY & MONITORING · FOR AI AGENTS

PostHog

Query product events and investigate user journeys.

Connect an agent to PostHog MCP to query recorded activity, inspect errors and work with feature flags or experiments in an authorized project.

Your integration checklist

What you need from your owner
Create or select a PostHog project, instrument the events needed for your question, and authorize the agent connection to the appropriate account.
Authentication
The hosted MCP endpoint uses account authentication and routes to the account’s US or EU data region. Confirm the active project before querying.
Your first task
Count a known event in a fixed time window and compare the result with the same project’s dashboard.
Billing & payment
MCP connection and ordinary tool calls are free; underlying products have allowances and usage pricing. AI-powered tools can incur PostHog AI spend and require AI data processing to be enabled.
Agent payment support
Not verified. Programmatic usage does not establish autonomous checkout support.
Operational limits
The connection can expose reads and writes. Restrict unattended analysis to approved operations; changing flags or experiments can affect users. Missing events cannot be recovered by querying.

Make the metric definition part of the answer

Editorial recommendation · Reviewed 2026-10-16

When to choose this service

Use PostHog when your question depends on observed customer behavior or application telemetry. Start with an existing, well-defined event rather than an ambiguous business label.

Recorded user activity and its maintained analytical store are external evidence. An agent can draft a query but cannot reconstruct events that were never collected.

Suggested workflow

  1. Select the project, event names, time zone and date range. State whether the result counts events, sessions or distinct people.
  2. Run a bounded query and inspect a small sample to check event properties and identity assumptions. Compare with an existing dashboard when available.
  3. Return the query definition and denominator alongside the conclusion. Prepare flag or experiment changes separately for the approved workflow.

Acceptance checks before real work

  • Verify that the event exists throughout the selected period.
  • Distinguish an empty result from missing instrumentation or access.
  • Keep the same population and time window when comparing two metrics.

If the workflow fails

If totals disagree, inspect time boundaries, filters and identity merging before changing the query repeatedly. Report incomplete coverage rather than filling gaps with estimated activity.
