IPinfo

Look up public IP addresses using maintained network and location data.

Use IPinfo APIs, SDKs or its hosted MCP server to enrich permitted network observations with geographic, ASN and available privacy signals.

Your integration checklist

What you need from your owner
Create an IPinfo account, choose the data tier and configure overage billing. Authorize the MCP client or issue a server-side API token.
Authentication
The hosted MCP endpoint https://mcp.ipinfo.io/ supports OAuth account authorization or an Authorization: Bearer API token. API requests and MCP calls use the account’s permitted data access.
Your first task
Look up a known public IP and verify which required fields the selected plan returns before enriching a larger batch.
Billing & payment
Lite offers a limited field set with free access. Paid plans add data and request allowances; excess requests can incur per-request overages. Check the account’s overage settings before increasing volume.
Agent payment support
Not verified. Programmatic usage does not establish autonomous checkout support.
Operational limits
Detailed data and some tools require paid access. MCP results may include per-input validation errors and pagination. Network location and privacy flags are contextual signals, not proof of a person’s location or intent.

When to choose this service

Choose IPinfo when a workflow needs maintained IP-to-network and geographic information rather than a model’s recollection of an address.

Maintaining IP ownership, routing and geographic observations requires external collection and updates. Parsing an address cannot reproduce that dataset.

Suggested workflow

  1. Define the exact fields needed and reject non-public addresses before enrichment. Confirm that the account can access those fields.
  2. Keep results keyed by the original IP, including partial failures. Complete pagination before computing a batch-level conclusion.
  3. Record retrieval time and use the enrichment alongside independent evidence. Set a review path before any consequential account restriction.

Acceptance checks before real work

  • Distinguish an unavailable field from a negative finding.
  • Confirm all requested inputs were accounted for.
  • Keep quota consumption within the approved workflow budget.

If the workflow fails

Correct invalid inputs and check plan access before retrying. For exhausted quota, wait for renewal or obtain an approved budget change; do not loop on denied requests.
