Genesis Bots

Hello. Today we're going to be setting up your installation and configuration of your Genesis Bots application. The first thing we're going to do is make sure that your account is set to account admin, and you can do that by simply clicking here. Go over to switch roles and make sure that account admin has been selected. 

Once that's been selected, navigate over to data products, and the first thing you're going to see is Marketplace. Please navigate over to Genesis Bots, simply select get, and never change the Genesis Bots application name. This should always remain the same for warehouse used for installation. Always select an extra small. Hit get when you're ready. 

Now you should be seeing this screen that's installing the application using the email address that's associated to your Snowflake account. Once the application has been successfully installed, you should see the screen. You're simply going to click configure, and now you can grant account privileges. 

Genesis requires you to grant access to the bind service endpoint, which allows access to application endpoints. Create compute pool, which allows Genesis to create a small Snowflake compute pool to run the application. Create a warehouse, which allows Genesis to create an extra small virtual warehouse for you to use by the application. Finally, imported privileges on Snowflake database, which allows Genesis access to query account usage views for Snowflake cost savings analysis. 

Once you select grant, you should be seeing all of this light up as granted in green. Note, once you select activate, it will be a 3 to 15 minute window in wait time to start up the services compute pool. Congratulations! If you're seeing the screen, that means your services have been set up, and now you can click to launch the application. Within a few short clicks, you're now ready to configure your Genesis Bots application. 

Upon reaching this window you're going to be asked if you would like to share the app event logs. While this is optional, it is highly recommended for enhanced support of your application. Gem bot's default to Cortex models such as llama 3.1 70b. Switching off fast mode will switch the genbot over to 405b. Note dynamic switching based off of processes is something that's built inside of genbot. So they know when the complexity of a cortex process kicks in, they will switch dynamically to 405b. 

So if you prefer fast mode, you can stick to 70b. You're free to interact with Gen Bots right now, but we do recommend that you complete the rest of the configuration. Genesis is model agnostic, so while we do default towards the cortex family of models, we do give the option for users who want to utilize other models. This next section will be optional and will be specifically focused for entering your llm model and key from other providers. You may skip this section if this doesn't pertain to you. If this does pertain to you, please navigate over to llm model and key. 

Now here you will be prompted in order to activate and connect the following external endpoints. These endpoints are specific to connect towards api.

OpenAI as well as your Slack instance you will be notified both for Slack if you're trying to activate Slack as well as if you're trying to integrate and activate your Open AI key. This step will be necessary to connect. As you can see at the top this is running. So if your screen fades into white don't worry as this is still processing. As you can see the description for Genesis Bots optionally using Open AI LLMs is written here but right now it defaults towards Cortex. 

Next you're going to hit assign EAI to Genesis which will be able to activate the next section that will enable you to enter your Open AI API key. Once you've selected assign EAI to Genesis the screen should refresh as it's starting Genesis services and now opening the option for you to enter your Open AI API key. As you notice it says Genesis service status is pending. This process in total can take up to 3 to 5 minutes but now you do have the option to select Open AI. If you want you can switch back to Cortex but now you have the ability to switch back and forth. 

Please enter your API key and then select submit model selection. The next step is configuring your email. Why do we need to configure your email? Because Genesis Bots uses the Snowflake notification to send emails when they run autonomous tasks for you. An example can be that Janice can email you when she identifies any concerns with the security of your Snowflake account or if she has ideas for Snowflake cost savings or performance improvement opportunities. 

The following will be required in order to configure. By following these email configuration steps we'll start by opening another Snowflake window or tab and going to projects and copying the code below. First we have to check if your email has been validated by Snowflake. Please navigate to your name below select my profile and if it hasn't you should see this message. 

Please click resend verification email and you should automatically receive an email notification from Snowflake. Upon receiving the email please click validate your email in order to receive email notifications. Congratulations your email has now been verified. 

Now we can continue to the next step of email configuration. In your new window or tab please navigate to where it says worksheets underneath projects and select and click the plus button which should open up a new sheet. From here you're going to paste a code and run every single line of this command as that will authenticate and authorize your email notifications. 

Upon running the commands your default email should be set successfully to your email address. Additionally you should also be receiving a test email coming directly from the Snowflake server. Your test email should have the title of testing email in addition to coming from no-reply Snowflake. 

Net with the message this is a test. Congratulations if you receive this message your email notifications have now been set up. Now we can activate your gen bots on slack. Activating your gen bots on slack enable a lot more collaborative opportunities that aren't normally possible by via streamlet alone such as being able to truly have an autonomous experience to where your gen bots are able to do things without having to have you consistently go back and forth interacting but simply schedule tasks automate processes and come back to you with results whenever they're completed. 

Starting off you're going to click here by going to api.

Slack.com ultimately you're going to scroll down and generate a new token. Now for demonstration purposes I am going to be using Genesis test space as the slack workspace. So I'll be deleting this token and selecting that specific workspace. Make sure you're choosing the right workspace that you want the genbox to be in. Once you've selected your workspace simply click generate. 

Now as you can see you have an access token as well as a refresh token. You're going to make sure you're copying the refresh token and then going back to the Genesis application to paste the token that you just copied and update the slack token. If you've done everything up till now you should see everything green and being granted properly. 

Congratulations you can now activate your bots on slack from the bot configuration page on the left navigation panel. Let's go over there now. On the bot configuration page should be seeing two gen Bots Eve and Janice. Eve is essentially the mother of all Bots capable of creating any other gen bot that you need providing any other capability to any other genbot tools. 

In addition to utilizing Eve in order to create more gen Bots she is your HR removing adding or customizing all G Street. Eve Janice is your out of the box snowflake data janitor with DBA processes that come right out of the box. Two DBA processes as well as two security processes. We will be talking more about processes in other videos but for the purpose of this video let's go and deploy one of the Bots here. 

We'll be deploying Eve on slack simply click deploy Eve and now you'll be able to see that it's running and then press for next steps. The next steps should be pretty simple as you are going to be prompted to go to this link here in order to scroll down towards app level tokens which should be generate token and Scopes name your token however you want in.

Order to identify for the purpose of this demonstration I'll just say app token add the scope making sure it says connections right and generate now that you're going to see this token appear simply copy this token and go back to your application paste the token right here and then submit slack app level key alternatively you can also utilize Eve in order to generate this process through the actual streamlit bot interface but using this side this is much simpler and user intuitive.

Now that you see slack app level key has been provided successfully you're now going to copy this link in order to authorize simply go to the link that's been provided and now you're able to have this direct connection between Slack as well as Genesis simply click allow and wait until you log in towards your snowflake account you're going to hit sign in and now you're going to wait until you see the following words once you see that Genesis bot Eve has successfully installed to streamlet and slack and is ready for use simply go to that slack workspace as you can see this is the Genesis test space which is the workspace that I connected the genbot to.

So ultimately I am now going to check for the Eve that we invited here you're going to go to add apps and look for the eve now because this is a test space there's many different gen Bots but for everyone to know gen Bots do not come preconfigured with their own image that's up to you to determine and how you can tell what is a new genbot is based off of the no image so this is our Eve and now as you can see she appears over here in apps simply go to messages and send a test message to see if she's connected this was from a previous thread so we're going to close this but at every single message gen Bots open a new private thread which is basically a new session so as you can see Eve is connected hello how can I.

Assist you today and you can ultimately start talking to Eve such as what is your purpose. But before we start to engage deeply with Gen Bots, the most most important thing now is connecting and granting data access based off of the data that you want Genin Bots to have access to. Of course, Gen Bots come predetermined with a sample data set that you can play with. But what's more valuable than being able to utilize your own data to benefit your own workflows?

So as you can see, Eve says she's here to help manage, monitor other Bots, assist in creating new Bots, and providing support. You can ultimately ask her anything from what are your capabilities so she can ultimately list out her tools. You can do this with any other Genbot in order to fully understand what they're capable of. But like I said before, we dive too deep into how you can utilize because there will be separate videos in order to configure your own Genbot.

Create your own Genbot for the purpose of this video. We'll be focusing on completing the installation process. So now let's navigate over to granting data access. Granting data access is going to be the most important part of being able to utilize Gen Bots on your own data to bring your Enterprise production use cases to life. You're going to navigate over to this button right here, click to copy to clipboard.

And before we move on to pasting this within a brand new sheet, I want to note that granting privileges to the Genesis Bots application does not provide the Genesis provider access to your data or metadata. Only the Genesis Bots application will be able to take advantage of the privileges that have been granted. Now let's move on to pasting the code over to a brand new sheet. To open a brand new sheet, simply navigate over to the plus sign and select SQL worksheet. Now you can paste the code that you just copied and the first thing.

You want to do unless you know the database off the top of your head that you want to Grant data access to. Ultimately show databases for the purpose of this demonstration. I'm going to use one database called spyer Data. I'm going to copy it because it has to be case sensitive and note line 53. This is where you want to replace your DB name with the name of your database that you want to Grant. Like I said, it's case sensitive so make sure you're fully replacing this entire section right here. 

And once you're ready, you can highlight everything and simply run all. Congratulations, you've successfully granted data access to your first database. You can grant access to as many databases as you want and the show database command is always here in case you are not sure what databases you have access to to be able to Grant. 

Now for all other portions of the menu, they will have their separate sections. But congratulations, you have now installed, configured, and activated your Genesis application. The next step is going to be creating your own personal genbot in order to activate your workflows. Hope this helps. 

In order to check if the data that you've granted has now been part of the Harvester, simply navigate over to the Harvest Harvester status. As you can see, spider data is now included. Utilize the Harvester status to be able to keep track of what databases are currently part of the Harvester.
