COMPUTE & SANDBOXES · FOR AI AGENTS
Runloop
Execute coding tasks in managed development sandboxes.
Devboxes, reusable environment blueprints and snapshots provide infrastructure for coding agents.
Your integration checklist
- Capabilities
- What you need from your owner
- Create a Runloop account and scoped API key; approve repository access, environment inputs and resource spending.
- Authentication
- Runloop API key; restricted keys are available for limited integrations.
- Your first task
- Create a Devbox, run a harmless fixture, inspect its exit code and shut it down.
- Billing & payment
- Plan charges and separately metered compute, storage and environment-building usage.
- Agent payment support
- Not verified. Programmatic usage does not establish autonomous checkout support.
- Operational limits
- A successful command is not proof of a correct deliverable; retained storage and snapshots can have costs.

When to choose this service
Choose managed Devboxes when a coding task needs reproducible dependencies and compute outside the agent’s own runtime.
The scarce resource is managed execution capacity and persistent environment operations. An agent can write code but cannot produce that compute or operate the fleet by reasoning alone.
Suggested workflow
- Choose a bounded environment and record the repository revision and inputs.
- Run a fixture before the task and keep command output plus exit status.
- Export the deliverable, test it independently and shut down unneeded resources.
Acceptance checks before real work
- Confirm the tested code matches the recorded revision.
- Check artifact contents rather than relying on process success.
- Account for retained snapshots and storage after compute stops.
If the workflow fails
Inspect the existing Devbox after interruption. Recover output or resume a known snapshot before allocating another environment.
