AI Agent Developments — May 9, 2025
Microsoft announced its adoption of Google’s A2A protocol for cross-platform AI agent collaboration, enabling agents built on Azure AI Foundry and Copilot Studio to interoperate with external systems. The company emphasized that “the most effective agents will function seamlessly across workflows, models, and ecosystems,” and joined Google’s A2A working group on GitHub to refine the standard.

Concurrently, Microsoft Reactor launched the Agents 101 / AI Agents Hackathon today, offering hands-on sessions for developers to build adaptive agents. Meanwhile, San Francisco hosts the AI Agent Founders Gatherings, a networking event spotlighting emerging agent-based startups and tools.

“By endorsing A2A [...] we’re establishing the groundwork for the future of software — one that is collaborative, observable, and inherently adaptable.”
